New Account Changes

I have implemented a new customer sign in procedure. We have gone back to the old days and made it where all potential customers will have to fill out a dealer app on paper and sign it. For at least the last two years we have allowed customers to fill out an online form and get almost instant access to the site. This worked well until recently. As I have said in the past, everybody and their mother has a resale tax certificate. So we are going to review each customer app before the customer get on the site, not after. I have also listed a few requirements I have only alluded to in the past. One being no eBay stores. If we already sell you and you have an eBay store, don't worry. If we still sell you, you haven't done anything we know of to annoy us or one of our manufacturers. But going forward, we are only going to deal with brick and mortar stores and what I will determine to be "professional" ecommerce sites. The sites will have to be professional and deal in our product line. I don't want to see our products next to ceramic nick nacks or anything like that. (nothing against ceramic nick nacks) This will probably get us some bad postings in some of these drop ship boards that are out there. I don't care. We are not going to deal with customers looking to make a quick buck on anything they can find to sell on the internet. This has been a long time coming and I think most of our current customers will appreciate this. You don't realize the toll the internet customers that never buy anything take on our staff. I will tweak it over the next couple of months, so I'd like to hear your input.

I agree with your actions, but have one question. I work as General Manager for an appliance and electronics store plus we have a seperate operation where we also sell new and used, surplus products that we buy or come from regular stock. I do all the work on selling on the internet and list alot of things on Blujay.com. Can I still do this or should I develop a seperate site strickly for Valor products or is it all right to keep listing like I have been. We are expanding and would like to start handling more Valor products through our website in the hope of creating more traffic into our brick and mortar store.

thanks

Harold,

Thanks for your comments.

As long as you are not listing everything we carry on a site along with appliances and electronics etc with no real purpose other than to sell everything we carry.  What I mean by that is, for example, if you are selling appliances and fishing products on the same site with no real difference between the two categories, then no, that is not what we prefer.  If you have a true fishing section to your website, and the products are not lumped in with everything else, then I really can't complain.  After all, WalMart sells both types of products.  What we want to avoid is a swap meat type of site that just sells anything and everything they can find wholesale online.  If you are going to sell fishing products or knives, at least take the time to learn the lines and separate them accordingly and price them accordingly.  I hope this explains it a little better.

I have recently taken over an online storefront originally created by my husband, he opened this account is with you. I intend to sell fishing, hunting and camping products, at the moment the only wholesale account is yours. But I may list products from other wholesale/drop shippers in the future. Is this ok? I have other store fronts so I will not be listing random products on same site.

As long as you're not going in 50 differnet directions selling anything you can get wholesale.  I don't have a problem with it.  I can't tell you waht to sell or where to buy.  The only thing we stay away from are companies adding our products to a swap meet style site that sells anything and everything.  We want our online dealers to be selling hunting products or fishing products.
