I began to mess around tonight with the api by trying to call it from the server side. I know some of you would like to be able to use the stock info and write it back to your databse. Well it lead me in a whole new direction. I have a new version of the API that will be available soon that you can call from your php or asp script. The old (what 3 days?) api script will still be used by most of you I think. I will not discontinue it at all. As a matter of fact, I would like to make some final modifications to it and make it officially available for use. I know some of you have it on your site already and except for some minor adjustments, it has seemed to work fine.
I will get more info on the server side version up when I am ready to have you test it. But before I do that I will post the final specs for version 1.0 of the stock status script tomorrow or this weekend.
The server side version will be more of a true api, I see how I will be able to add all sorts of features, such as returning items and their assorted specs (on hands, descriptions etc) and your orders (status, tracking numbers). You will need to brush up on your xml if you want to use it. If you have any suggestions that you would like to see that I have not mentioned, please post them in this forum, and please start a new thread for new ideas.
